What is Article schema?

Article schema describes a blog post or news piece with a headline, author, publisher, and the dates it was published and last updated. Google's own documentation says there are no strictly required properties, but recommends adding as many as apply so it can surface accurate title text, images, and date information for the article in Search, Google News, and the Google Assistant.

What does Article schema actually control?

It gives Google explicit title, author, publisher, image, and date data for the piece, rather than leaving it to guess from the page's HTML. Google uses this for how the article is presented across Search, News, and the Assistant.

Do I need both datePublished and dateModified?

datePublished is the more important of the two. Add dateModified whenever you genuinely update the content, since an inaccurate or artificially bumped date can work against you rather than for you.

Does Article schema help with Google Discover?

Article markup is one of several signals search engines use to understand and present editorial content, including on Discover, but no schema type guarantees inclusion there. Content quality and topical relevance do the actual work.

Can I use Article schema alongside FAQPage or BreadcrumbList on the same page?

Yes. A single page can carry multiple JSON-LD blocks. Generate each type separately in this tool and add every script tag to the page.
